Layla Morris began playing the cello over thirteen years ago, at the age of three. She is currently a junior at Champlain Valley Union High School. Layla participated in the All State Music Festival in both her freshman and sophomore years, and she attended the New England Music Festival in 2018. She held the position of principal cellist in all three of these festival orchestras. As a sophomore, she was a recipient of the All State Scholarship award.
Throughout the year, Layla is a member of the Vermont Youth Orchestra and the UVM Symphony. She also works as a cello accompanist at Vermont Suzuki Violins. She began her private studies as a Suzuki student of Anne Brown, and she currently studies with John Dunlop. During the summers, Layla is a student at Kinhaven Music School in Weston, Vermont.
Outside of music, Layla enjoys writing poetry, alpine skiing, and pampering her extremely spoiled cats.
